Boys pieced t-shirt pants

Confusing title huh? Don't worry, you'll see what I mean.
So in case you didn't know February was Celebrate the Boy month over at Made By Rae and MADE, if you have boys or know any that you want to make something for seriously go check it out, there are tons of ideas, tutorials, patterns etc etc etc.. I have so many ideas of things I want to make!
Anyways I had planned awhile back to make a shirt using a tutorial I had seen at I am Momma - Hear me Roar, well let's just say it didn't quite turn out like I had envisioned in my head.. I loved the look of the pieced together tshirts but it just wasn't working in shirt form for me..
Well while looking through some of the Celebrate the Boy posts I came across something very similar, pants pieced from old tshirts!!! Genius! It was a feature of Kojodesigns that was on MADE.

So I figure hey I can do that. ...maybe..
So I set about cutting out strips of tshirts.. Big B thought I was nuts for cutting up perfectly good shirts.

And laying out some strips to see what I liked.

So after quite a bit of agonizing over placement this is what I came up with, these were for my BFF's little boy.

The front. Since these are for a 1 year old, I did add an elastic waistband, the tie string is only for decoration.

The back. I left the bottom unhemmed. My friend never gave me measurements so I just had to guess and made them a little bigger than a pair of K's pants.

I do have some more scrap strips cut to make some for my boys and I was planning on waiting to post all of them at once, but I wanted to go ahead and share these.
So what do you think?

I will be linking up here
And here..

Have a great day everyone!

A little get to know you

So last week, the awesome Heidi over at Craft Monkey played a fun little game. A little get to know you game. I thought it was a great idea so I decided to steal borrow the idea from her, don't worry I told her and she's cool with it ;)

I have 48 followers, which is amazing to me, I do appreciate every.single.one of you! But I would like to know a little more about you, if you don't mind..
So here's how it goes, I ask a couple questions and you leave a comment with your answer. See super easy right? I'll even answer my questions for you first, cause I'm nice like that!

So here are the questions, I'm using the same ones Heidi used cause I like them.
1. Your name
2. Where you're from - you don't have to say the specific town if you don't want to. I didn't.
3. Your blog address, if you have one
4. Your etsy store address, if you have one
5. Something interesting about you that you'd like us to know

Plus I'm adding one more, you don't have to answer but it'd be cool if you did!
6. What would you like to see here on Killing Time? More crafty stuff, features, more personal stuff? A little bit of it all?
I'm still trying to find my way in this crazy world of blogging, and I like to think that those who have followed me have done so because they like what they see, so I want to make sure to post things that interest you and that bring you back. While I love having followers, I don't want someone to follow me just so I can say I have so&so amount of followers, you know what I mean? I want to have a connection with you.
Okay whew, yeah I get a little long-winded at times..

So here are my answers..
I'm Tiffany, I'm from a semi-small town about 45 minutes from OKC, Oklahoma. I blog here at Killing Time but I don't have an Etsy shop, yet..
An interesting fact about me is that I have an adopted brother, what is interesting about that is the fact that we have the exact same birthday, he is only 6 hours older than me! pretty cool huh?

So that I not leaving this post completely picture-less here are a couple pics of what my living room looked like for part of the weekend, stayed tuned for what this mess ended up as..

Does that last pic give you an idea? Any guesses?

This week's Hoo Are You?

So it's time for another round of Hoo Are You by Night Owl Crafting

NightOwlCrafting

Here are this week's questions!

1. Where do you usually have your thermostat set at in the winter?
This is an old house so no thermostat, just a couple gas heaters.
2. What room do you tend to put off cleaning until last?
Usually our bedroom, no one ever goes in there and we can just close the door when company comes over if we need to.
3. Do you like to clean with music on or off?
I prefer to have the music blasting to something fun and upbeat, I even have a couple playlists titled "cleaning music". But with an 8 month old, my cleaning is usually done while he's napping so I can't blast the music. :(
4. When do you take time to blog?
Usually after everyone else is asleep when I have no interruptions.
5. How much time do you spend looking at other blogs a week?Way too much, I will leave it at that!

Stay tuned for next week's questions!
Have a great day everyone!

Well I haven't been up to much this week craft-wise so I thought I would show off a little bit of awesomeness I've ran across out in blogland..

Ruffle Pillow from oopsey daisy

Zebra rug from Vintage Revivals

Fun Spring Scarf from Five Seconds from Crazy
Btw, if you love this scarf, Lesley is having a giveaway for one of these and YOU get to pick the color!

Gorgeous Apron from Moose tracks & Tater stacks

Ladies feel free to grab a featured button if you would like!
Killing Time

I also got an award from the fabulous Chrissy at Chrissy in America

Thank you Chrissy! You are amazing!

 The rules are:

Mention the blogger who awarded you and link back to that person!
Tell 7 random facts about yourself
And pass the award on to other bloggers and let them know about it!

Okay 7 random facts about myself..
1. 95% of the time I keep my hair up in a ponytail or messy bun, but I hate my hair short and refuse to cut it.
2. I love tattoos and if I had the money, I would probably be covered in them. Mr. B doesn't like tattoos on women and doesn't want me to have any more. I thinks he's just jealous because my tattoos are way cooler than his one tattoo.
3. I love jewelry and have a huge collection, but I rarely wear it. My OU Sooners necklace and Support Our Troops bracelet is the only thing I wear all the time.
4. I have an adopted twin brother.
5. I love heavy metal music \m/
6. I hate carrying a purse, but I have come to realize it is a necessity and I rely on it to hold all my crap.
7. I DVR Jersey Shore and Jerseylicious, they are my guilty pleasure shows.

A few blogs I love and think deserve this award!
 Choose to Thrive
bouffe e bambini
Haybird
The Sweet Maple Life
Misty's Thoughts Too
Crystal Jigsaw
Style TAY 2 Zoe

Now I know some of these lovely ladies may have received this before or may not even want to participate, and that's okay, I just wanted to point out I few that I think deserve this!

Have a great week everyone!!

Getting ready for babies!

No not mine, no more babies for me, but it seems like everyone I know is pregnant. My sister-in-law, my cousin, my friend, my ex sister-in-law... I'm sure there are others..
But the thing is, only one of those is a girl, so I've been a little excited to make some girlie stuff finally.

I made a few washcloths already and still have a few more to make. One side is super soft terry cloth, the other is a soft flannel.

One set for my nephew

And one set for my friend's girl

While I was shopping for the flannel for those washcloths, I had another idea. How about some changing pads? I made these as a travel diaper & diapers wipes bag/changing pad. I've seen several variations of these online and I didn't use any pattern, just kinda winged it.

The camo one is for my sister-in-law and will match the carseat I redid for her last month. I did the camo one first.

The little pocket at the top can be for a wipe case or diapers, if diapers are in it it can also serve as a cushion for babies head. And yes I do plan on recovering the wipes case to match both of these.
These are actually not too hard to do. The pad part itself I found in the remnant bin, it is vinyl tablecloth material! I put 2 thin layers of batting between the pad and backing fabric, and sewed the tie string and pocket on then added the binding all around. The camo is a canvas-y type of material.

The pink camo I did next, I had to do this one a little different because I didn't have as much pink camo fabric and because the way it was cut already, it was left over from a previous project. I actually like how this one turned out and will probably go with this style on any future ones I make.

I chose not to have binding on this one, so I sewed RST then flipped and top-stitched all around. Instead of a pocket I just made flaps and added velcro strips to keep it closed. Then I just sewed the flap and ties on right over the top-stitching. The pink camo and tie strings are a soft cotton jersey.

I love how the pink one turned out!

I will be linking up here and would love for you to go have a look around, these are some great linky parties and I get tons of inspiration.

Have a great day everyone!!

Pink Hair?

Well in my last post I told you all about my friend Patrice at Not Cake who supposedly now had pink hair, or at least some pink in her hair. Well in short I left her a comment saying I needed verification of this pink hair in the form of a picture and if she did post a pic, then I too would post a pic of my hair being pink.
Well everyone, today she has pics! So I will uphold my end of the deal.

Here is Patrice's

I have to say I like her pink better! In fact, I LOVE it!

So here is my pink (& brown & black) hair, this pic is from about a year ago..

It is about time for some new color though, I'm thinking turquoise highlights..
No I am not afraid of color, although I have toned it down a bit, hubby is not a fan of "crazy" (his word) or "non-traditional" (my word) haircolor.. Bleh, for a biker he sure is kinda stuffy sometimes...

Here are a few of my previous colors..
Bright red

Purple

So tell me ladies, what's the "craziest" thing you have done with your hair?

Keychains, necklaces and headbands

Okay so I know a couple weeks ago I promised pics of what I'd been working on. Well I have been lazy, so sorry.

Anyways I finally got the pics uploaded and decided to post. I really do need to work on posting more frequently..

Here are a few keychains I made. I embroidered Dad on some camo fabric, then layered the fabric with a piece of felt and some scrap leather for the back. Then I modge-podged over the top just to seal it, and also cause I had never used Modge Podge before and wanted to see what it could do.. I added a small strip of black ribbon to the edge to hide the layers.

The I punched a hole in it with this nifty little tool that came with my sewing machine, I think it's for making button holes, but it worked for this. And added my keychains. Yeah I know I'm missing 2, I need to make a trip to the store. Yes I also know these aren't perfectly round, but hey they are for guys, they don't need to be perfect. At least my hubby doesn't care too much about those types of things..

These keychains were featured!

Photobucket

And at A Recovering Craft Hoarder

Next up is a couple rosette necklaces.

This first one is a gift for my talented friend Amanda from A&A Art

I have yet to get it shipped to her, this weather has me not wanting to leave the house at all!

This one is for my momma, I chose some colorful fabric for her, I hope she likes it!

And finally a couple rosette headbands, I used some brown bandana fabric I had in my scrap pile.

Well I hope you liked my little bit of randomness for today.
I'm working on something now that I hope to have posted soon.I won't be able to work on it today because the living room (my craft area) is being taken over for a Superbowl party..

I'll be linking up here!
And here..

Oh and just wanted to give a quick shoutout to Patrice at Not About Cake who awarded me The Stylish Blogger award! If you aren't a reader of hers already, you really should be. Amazing! Oh and she is now claiming to have pink hair, I still say I need proof pics!

I know there are certain "rules" for this award, but since I just recently did those rules, I'm going to skip on it this time. Okay?
